The SMC partners spend at least 30 percent of their time on research. Four partners (Derkjan van der Leest, Geert de Jong, Frans Roozen and Jaap van Manen) have a part-time position as professor. In their advisory practice they encounter questions that they seek to answer through their academic research. |

These ’academic partners’ emphatically are not researchers who occasionally advise, but experienced advisors who use their research to advise properly. Research takes place within the framework of an issue, not of an assignment. They research matters they come across and need, to understand the world and to support top managers. The research is practical and where possible is published to enable others to learn from it. |
